My Japan Videos

Last night I tried to put together some clips from my stay in Japan. Its just an experiment in online video. It was all recorded using a Panasonic D-Snap in low resolution video. The experience of putting the video together was a lot of fun. So I think I will start using my camera more often, but in higher resolution.

That was cool - did you know the businessman dancing with the girls on the street, or was he a random passerby?

Cool videos, Ejovi. Who were the girls that were dancing? Did you ask them to do it for you? Or you just captured them doing their thing? Anyways, i loved the videos and the songs. Coooool

They were doing a popular club style dance called “para para” I think. Sometimes people practice on the street in front of store windows. They just happened to be practicing when I had my camera. :-)

Nice! I have been reading your blog regularly lately and it has sparked my interest in checking out the land of the rising sun. I am thinking of going this december. I might have to ask you for some tips about Japan at that time.

My first trip to Japan was in 1998. I was 18 and working as a developer for the OpenBSD operating system which had a decent following in Japan at the time. Oh, and there was a girl there I liked. So I went to meet Japanese OpenBSD developers and a girl and I’ve been back every year since.

i remember reading that you were wanting to go in your book, and now i am also getting into openBSD and its development. How did you find working with Theo de Raadt, ex South African, I have read he can be quite difficult?

Also do still use openBSD? what about freeBSD?

    Cheers :)

I use FreeBSD, and what you read about Theo is all true. :-)

It is pretty funny, these kids dancing in the streets. I see it all the time when I’m in a big city like Sapporo. Especially at night, and they are usually REALLY REALLY good! And it’s not all the same stuff. That style in the video, break dancing, these bike tricks where they spin the bike around and balance on different parts of it, etc. Free entertainment!
