Saw that too. BTW, wondering if InfoSecDaily.com should launch a new window when a user clicks on an article. Currently, an article loads into the parent window. Or was that done intentionally?

    its InfoSecDaily.NET :-)

I haven’t thought about that. It might be a good idea…

Hello Ivan. Can you please elaborate? There are no frames on InfoSecDaily, therefor there is no “parent” or “child” window. Clicking a link behaves as it should: the new URL is loaded.

Thankfully, webrowsers allow the reader to choose whether to open the link in a new window or not, usually via the Contextual Menu / left mouse button click. Forcing a new window is bad from and frowned upon in web design best-practices. :)

Hi, ok. I suppose it depends on the majority of your readers. I was just wondering whether it would be easier. Like on Google, I do a search and then I end up right mouse clicking to launch a new window for about five of the links I want to read. Sometimes, the links don’t go anywhere, so that saved me time. While I’m reading through one, I’m basically letting the other sites load up. It’s just a personal thing to save time. But I do notice that all the search engines work this way as well, so it’s probably the right design. :)

    Hi Ivan,
First of all I must apologize to you and Ejovi. The previous comment was from me and not Ejovi. I didn’t realize I was logged in as admin on the site - I worked on this site too and my web browser saved the login apparently! I have gone in and fixed the attribution and have logged out. I’m me again! ;)

Yes, I often right-click and open new windows/tabs as well, and I appreciate the fact that I have this as an option and not a forced behavior. On the other hand, Google offers a way to optionally make all search result links open in new windows as well, which is nifty, but perhaps overkill in ISD’s situation.

We will definitely think about any room for improvement in the way our system works, so thanks for your feedback!! :D
