Tired in Japan

This week has been full of Japanese formalities and cultural nuances that remind me of how little I understand of the country. To some extent I have given up trying to comprehend why some things in Japan work as they do. This is because I don’t live in Japan anymore and in order to really understand many of the issues I’ve noticed in the corporate environment and in business relationships would require a much deeper understanding of Japan and the language then my one year living in the country could provide. Forget about personal relationships. I still can’t understand personal relationships in America; I don’t have time to try to understand them in Japan!

I am supposed to be flying back to Sweden and then to Finland next week but depending on how I feel, I might cancel that trip and just go home.
