Spain in March

In March I will be spending time in Spain to participate in the International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security. I’m really excited about the opportunity. The summit has invited experts engage heads of state and political leaders from around the world to discuss Democracy, Terrorism and Security.

The working group I will be a member of will deal specifically with Terrorism, Democracy and The Open Internet. The guidelines we will draft and the discussion we will have will be based around the idea that “some of the most violent terrorist groups have also been the most skilled in exploiting the advantages of the Internet.” While answering the question of “How can we stop them from abusing the opportunities of modern communications technology whilst preserving the advantages and freedoms it offers?”

My dear friend Stephanie, who is volunteering to help tsunami victims in Sri Lanka as I write this, would argue that we need to more people handing out rice instead of discussing how to hand rice out. But I think that policy development that results from an open discussion can actually change situations for the better. So that’s why I am really excited about going to Spain. If you can make it to Spain you should attend and participate in this event.

I read your book and enjoyed it.
I thought some of it was funny especially the
decepticon fighting moves, but I could relate to a lot of it becuase, I also grew up “in da hood”
and ended up in IT. Keep on doing what you’re doing becuase you are in inspirations for a lot of us brothers in IT.
