Working with advisors

They say every startup should build an advisory board of top notch professionals and entrepenuers. I’m still in the process of building SecurityLab’s but the few I have right now are very good.

How do I know they are good? Well I just got off the phone with one. He’s a Former CEO of another security startup that recently raised several million dollars in funding. During our hour and a half conversation I told him about what I’m doing and what I want to do. He proceeded to pick me apart by explaining all the holes in my reasoning and why they exist. It was very depressing and difficult to listen to mainly because he was right!

While he didn’t shoot down my ideas he gently showed me the problems I might run into and forced me to check my assumptions. It was very tiring but at the end I got a shot of hope, a bit of encouragement and a lot of knowledge. Atleast I’m doing SOME things right. I think I need to go for a walk. My head hurts.
