Tuesday, January 25th, 2005私は最初に、私が今日この場に来ることを許可してくれたことについて、法廷の尊敬すべき方々に感謝します。日本という国そのものとしての、強くてパワフルな政府の決定に挑戦することは、簡単でも単純でもありません。権限の乱用を問題にすることも、たぶん簡単でも単純でもないでしょう。しかしそれは常に必要とされることのはずです。

Statement to the court
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005Today I made my opening statement to the Japanese court regarding the censorship case. Needless to say it was an experience. The court has three judges. I was there with my lawyer and a translator, the government had about seven lawyers present on their side of the court room.
