Yakuza & Blackmail?
Mainichi Shimbun reported about idiots in Japan that have been emailing men they find on gay related websites and threatining to “out” them if they didn’t pay.
Extortion is just as common online as it is in real life, just an extension of old techniques.

Sorry I don’t have any comments on this thread. I just finished reading chapter 15 of your book Hacker Cracker, and I’m hesitant to start reading chapter 16, because I don’t want the book to end. I’m really compelled by this book, I’m an African American male who grew up in the mean environments of the city of Detroit, and now I’m a Unix/Windows System Admin, Security Specialist, and Web Designer for a major firm and my own TSP Prodigal Technologies. Your story is so parallel to mind that it’s almost haunting. I just want to say thanks for writing this book, it lets me know that there are others out there like us, and I’m not alone. I LOVE THE BOOK, and Oprha better add it to her book club.
