In brief, from the Wall St Journal:
Allows, the FBI to seek “the production of any tangible things (including books, records, papers, documents and other items)” in an effort to “obtain foreign intelligence information”
Permits noncitizens to be investigated for activities covered by the First Amendment, including political protests, although “a United States person” continues to receive that protection.
Allows the FBI to subpoena records that are “sought for” an authorized investigation, even thought their owners may not be suspected of a criminal or terrorist activity.
Prohibits someone served with a Patriot Act subpoena from telling anyone else about it.

I can’t trade on Fidelity. From what I can tell Fidelity went down for about 15 minutes around 3:30. The busiest trading times are in the morning and near the close (4:00). Because of this and a handful of other problems at Fidelity I’m moving all my money to E-Trade.
Active trading is back, maybe even the dreaded “day trading.” While I’m far from a day trader I do consider myself active. Atleast one trade a week. The recent upbeat in trading reminds me of a warning a financial advisor once gave me and my co-workers several years ago, “Stay away from Internet stocks, they are flying high now, but in the long term they are valueless.” He was right, as we all learned from the .com collapse, but my co-worker’s argument was “Yeah, but in the meantime other people will be making money, while I’m not.” They were both right. It all depends on how much risk you are willing to take.
Being in my 20’s I’m willing to risk jumping back on the bandwagon and riding the wave as long as I can simply because there is a greater fool then I, and when I find that fool, I’m going to sell him/her my holdings, along with options in Brooklyn Bridge Inc.
Fidelity won’t be receiving my commission.

I’ve really tried to limit the amount of email I send you guys/gals, but I need your thoughts on an idea I have.
Instead of sending emails weekly or every once and awhile, I am considering creating a free monthly newsletter. The newsletter would basicly give you a brief view of whats happening in the privacy/technology space, with links and urls, much like my blog. In addition it would also have additional thoughts by me and perhaps an essay on the months events.
It would be a mailing list that you could subscribe and unsubscribe to at will. Right now, the blog doesn’t have an unsubscribe “feature” so that would be another benefit, but before I do anything I want to hear what you think?
