Spent the entire weekend in NYC on my grandmothers futon reading Shogun. I’m on page 500 now with about 620 more pages to go. Its a great book, after Shogun I will finish Genji Monogatari (The Tale of Genji) which is about the same length. Then perhaps 47 Ronin, or any other historical novels I can get my hands on.

If you live in Romania cyber crime pays, at least until you get caught. Interesting article at http://www.sundayherald.com/34961. This isn’t the first case and surely will not be the last. The problem with Eastern Europe lay within its lack of law enforcement when it comes to computer crimes which are equivalent to jay walking in NYC. Coupled with the fact that if you are a highly educated computer engineer with a Phd. in most cases you will earn $300USD a month. If you convince some poor sap on the Internet that you will send him a PowerBook you could earn (steal) $2000USD in less then a week. Tough decisions.

Pretty amusing report about Bill Gates being denied entry to the White House because he left his ID in the car.
Microsoft has been aggressively pushing their .Net initiative. The idea behind .Net is that with one digital ID you could go anywhere and use any service on the Internet. With such a forward thinking idea, you would image Bill Gates could have thought of a way to carry his REAL ID, every where he goes…guess not.
