Can you imagine a government where those considered threats are placed on “secret” list that prevent them from moving about freely? Where those who are on the list are not allowed to verify they are there or why? Where being on this dreaded list results in being hasseled and considered suspect everywhere you go? Well its happening right now in America…
Here is an interesting article David Nelson and here is a follow-up to that article On the list? do such list really benefit us if they are poorly managed?

I was in “Bar Isn’t It” in Shin Shibashi when it happened. In an area where at night the streets all look the same, nameless and dark, full of bars each with their own crowd, their own story. I can’t count the number of times I’d gotten lost looking for this bar.
You can hear the music from outside and you can see foreigners, hostesses getting off of work and guys looking for stragglers to pick up lurking outside the spiral staircase that leads upstairs to the infamous house of sin.
It was a house of sin because people only went there for one reason. Like the many gaijin bars throughout Japan its sole purpose was to take advantage of the fact that there are Japanese who want to have sex with foreigners, and foreigners who want to have sex with Japanese. They lure foreigners with cheap imported beers and the Japanese follow…

The other day buff announced that he was changing his handle to pyr0 after seeing the movie X-men, which is the lamest thing a hacker could do. No one knows what Moses (the religious guy) had on that other tablet when he came down from the sacred mountain but I am sure there must have been some reference to “thou shall not change thou handle” or something more suitable to the times.
I can’t really fault pyr0 (formerly buff). He is young and knows not the ways of elitism. I used to be that way once before. Like when the movie “Hackers” came out, I went and changed my handle to ‘ZeroCool’. And for an entire week I was on IRC and other chat rooms screaming “Hack the Planet! Hack the Planet!”
Now looking back on it it’s pretty funny how naďve I was, but during the second week when everyone and their mother were screaming “Hack the Planet!” the reality set in that there could have been some remote possibility that someone who didn’t really know me might think I was merely a lamer among lamers.
But we all make mistakes. The important thing is that we learn from those mistakes.
When the first Matrix movie came out I was careful not to rush and change my nick to Neo who was the star, someone of my standing in the hacker scene has to remember that people are watching. I waited a good ten days before I changed my nick to Morpheus because anyone who has a clue knows that Morpheus was the man that controlled the Matrix. He taught Neo everything he knew, he made Neo. I am the teacher. I am the maker of great beings. That is the subliminal message I sent out to the young hackers. Follow me.
Pyr0 said the nick “pyro” was already taken by someone else, someone lamer and faster then him. I think he is just going through I learning process of finding himself. Every hacker goes through this. So I tried not to make him feel bad. I think I was actually pretty supportive even going as far as changing my nick to Wolverine.
“TheProfessor” was already taken.

My Adventures in the Philippines will sadly have to wait until another time. The company bringing me out there made one too many mistake with my plane tickets and I finally decided it wasn’t worth the trouble… and yes, I could use the rest.
I did take the time to visit my family in NYC. Though it was short, it was lots of fun and I think I managed to convince my little brother to do homestay abroad. Now I have to find a few homestay programs in several different countries to give him something to choose from, any suggestions?
I have added two new entries from my trip to Argentina, the pictures aren’t ready yet.

I’m in Boston now. Spring is in. The trees on the my street are in full bloom. We have a few cherry blossoms and they remind me of Japan when I look out the window. Its a great street to come home to.
Soon (tomorrow) I’ll have to hop back on a plane and go to the Philippines but I’m sick of planes now. The company bringing me out to the Philippines hasn’t been very organized and so I am considering canceling the trip. I could use the rest anyway.
I have several journal entries I need to update the site with and also my pictures from Argentina and Canada. I want to sleep now, but I have to do laundry with the assumption that I’ll be on a plane tomorrow on my way to the Philippines.
