hong kong was worried that a spoofed news report that the city was being quarantined because of SARS sent an email to 6million cell phones throughout hong kong.
that’s a lot of cell phones, its 6,000,000 cell phones to be exact. in a city that has 6.8million people they reached more people then the spoofed news report did. so they actually spammed the city about spam which i am pretty sure generated more spam of people asking if the spam was real spam or not.

I really hate it when governments try to cover up serious situations such as the SARS outbreak. I also have a feeling that the SARS outbreak is serious here in the U.S. than what is being told. The reason I believe this is because my cousin owns a website that sells sneakers made in HK and then are shipped to the US directly from the factory. There has been times when the factories have been shut down because the workers were afraid to work. As stated on CNN.com one of the ways the SARS virus can be contracted is by touching a surface that has been infected. I really hope the CDC and the W.H.O takes time to let the people know the seriousness of this virus because we are all effected by it!
