TLC Hacker Documentary

Just finished watching the TLC documentary on Hackers. I only caught the last 20 minutes of it, from the point when a British hacker I didn’t know was talking about how everyone in the security industry knows him.

Then another guy explained the difference between a Hacker and a Cracker. And I smiled. He was right, actually the last 20 minutes that I did catch seemed really cool and on point. I thought it was a little weird when John Perry Barlow from the Electronic Freedom Foundation was performing a monolog on some bridge. Was that the bridge to the information super highway? The bridge to the future? Did his car break down?

When someone said at the end of the piece that the best security professionals are former black hats, I knew that this wasn’t just another fluff piece, because in many cases, that’s true.

Bought myself a new camera today. Nikon D100. Had a chance to test it out when I gave a lecture at IEEE today on the topic of IT Security. Below is a picture of Dimitar, the NY IEEE chapter chair. It was a cool event. Tomorrow I’m off to Boston where I have a book signing and two radio interviews. I of course will be taking plenty of pictures with my new toy.
