Linux bad for the Government?

A group called Initiative for Software Choice has said in short according to CNET that it would be dangerous for the government to use “Open source” software. Open source being software that is free and modifiable by a community of contributors, such as Linux as opposed to proprietary software, such as Microsoft Windows.

The comments are in response to a report the defense contractor MITRE wrote that really gave open-source software props and said that it would be as good as if not better then Microsoft products for use in the DoD.

ISCs come back was “Hey, lets not jump to conclusions” and look at this on a case by case bases, “Microsoft is pretty good too”. Oh, by the way, Microsoft is one of the companies that sponsor ISC.
